What’s going on in the real world (for social media geeks)…
You may have noticed (OK, you probably noticed) it’s been a while since my last post. I have been crazy busy the last few weeks, I didn’t even get a chance to blog about the last Social Media Breakfast with Tripharbour.ca’s Stuart MacDonald (which was great by the way!) Nor did I get a chance to tell you about my experience at PodcampTO (amazing! And fortunately all the sessions are online). However, I am going to squeeze in a few things coming up you should definitely make yourself aware of…
- Social Media Breakfast 7 – Is happening next week! This time Brady Gilchrist is going to talk about some of the evolving business models, how social media is shaping our trouble times and what it was like blogging in the (very) early days. Cost is $10, that’s nothing! Hope to see you there.
- SXSW Interactive - Starts next Friday! And I can’t even tell you how excited I am to be going. I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of my non-local followers, as well as some other community managers. Plus, I shouldn’t say too much now, but SmartHippo will be running a really exciting online/offline contest! Details announced next week on the SmartHippo blog, but I’ll keep you up to speed over here as well.
- The Media Q PR Alumni Meet & Greet – if you are an Algonquin PR grad, I hope to see you there! This is one of my favourite networking events of the year, and it’s all for charity. What could be better?
That’s about it. And I promise to start being a better blogger. I have been trying to schedule some time to review Sysomos, another social media monitoring system, but haven’t been able to make time for a demo. I also heard about a whole whackload of free monitoring tools thanks to Sean Power‘s session at Podcamp. I’ll get to that soon, I promise. In the meantime, feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you’d like to write about. It actually takes me longer to think of an idea vs. actually writing about it, so I’d appreciate it.
That’s it for now. Let me know if you’ll be any at the above events, I’d love to meet you! (Or just say hi if I already know you!)
